wonderwheel is happy to welcome in montreal based producer & don dada poirier for his first release on the label, the be alright ep. moving away from the traditional dancehall, dub and soca sounds he s become known for, poirier delivers a 4 track of afro-house influenced dancefloor firestarters. sowia heads to south east africa with it s floating guitar hooks, big bassline, and vocals in portugese from canadian-moçambican singer samito. ginobili goes into deeper territory with four to the floor drums, heavily chopped percussion, and a hypnotizing distorted mbira line, while camera continues the tropical vibe with a nod to semba with its driving guitar lines, staccato synth lines and thumping drums. antilles trax rounds it out as the extended instrumental version of sowia

straight out of queens nyc, love letters makes their debut on yield. the 5th tape release is accompanied by the first vinyl release of the imprint. love letters provided 3 stunning and diverse cuts of the track ducue , traversing the variety of early house sounds.
the single mix is the classic house jam with a warm piano, jacking groove and seductive vocals by love letters themselves. xtended dick dub sets the mark at a stripped back and hot pace. its penetrating groove and thumping low end will make it impossible for any dedicated dancer to stand still and ignore the energy. on the flip side is the turtle bugg & l.l. free edit, a collaboration with dj and friend turtle bugg, which will literally vibrate the sweat off the ceiling with its 808 and 303 violence, showing no mercy for those who fail to yield.

finally the long-awaited second series of invisible family outings has arrived.label boss and compiler gk machine has this to say beyond ecstatic to get these tracks out. the gazeebo track i ve been playing in my sets for years. digital only but so great it definitely needed to get pressed onto wax! i would dj with it using ableton and speed it up a lot so for the vinyl i asked jon (nedza) who ive been a huge fan of since his community recordings releases on grayhound and imperial dub, whether he could speed it up a little bit before we pressed it up. now its 100% perfect: a moroder-esque cosmic stomper thats sure to set any dancefloor alight. the apiento track is another one that s been gestating for a long time first appearing around the time the original e.s.p. 12inch appeared on the wonderful golf channel recordings in 2014. secret circuit gave it a complete overhaul, in fact several complete overhauls, plus some of his signature guitar and has turned the already blissful track into an afro-esque, trippy, beautiful, beautiful piece of music that (imo) is one of his best yet. utterly gorgeous! then there s the boy-girl retro-future duo der kundalini coming from the wonderful lectric sands stable in ny who gave us zoovox. this one s also been hiding on my hard drive way too long! finally relative newcomers konzel (of junto club/optimo music fame) & natural sugars (pardon my french) round off the package just perfectly. the former so distinct that i felt it was a perfect opener for the a side. so, i hope you dig it and keep an eye out for the super limited 12-track cassette too! limited to 300 hand-numbered copies.

ltd 50% deal , last copies left ... italian production duo, mushrooms project, make their debut on jansen jardin with the wonderful >galattica<. releases for labels like under the shade and is it balearic? and remixes for the likes of tirk, lipservice and nang have introduced their blissed-out, mediterranean sound to fans around the world. galattica is 11 minutes and 45 seconds of high plains drifting, dream disco for late night drives and sunset sessions. a lush combination of euro disco arpeggios and west coast guitars spill out across a landscape of live percussion, bass and dub acrobatics. this is the soundtrack to a spaghetti western set in ibiza. a fistful of cervezas. the remix comes courtesy of the mighty chicago damn who has been responsible for some extraordinary music from his debut on mark es merc label to releases on claremont 56 and his own eponymous imprint. here he re-imagines the original track in the image of model 500, stripping away the music to a raw machine groove. dark, atmospheric and undeniably aimed at the floor.

copenhagens echocord colour returns this mid november with brendom moellers magic city ep, featuring four originals from the new york based artist. brendon moeller has long been a purveyor of authentic dub-infused techno since stepping onto the scene via his 2006 sweetspot / humpback ep via echocord and has since gone on to release on reputable imprints such as third ear, kimochi sound, delsin’s ann aimee, mule musiq and of course his very own steadfast. here though moeller makes a welcome return to where it all began with some fresh material for echocords colour sub- label. caravan takes the lead on the release and in typical brendon moeller fashion were treated to densely layered dub chords, throbbing subs and expansive atmospherics whilst robust drums drive the composition along. magic city’ follows and ups the energy levels even further with pounding industrial drums layered underneath billowing dub stabs and eerie drones. ‘magic city in dub’ follows and as the name suggests offers up a reduced take on the composition, dropping the tempo and shining light on the billowing echoes of the original whilst stirring in some off-kilter rhythsm and additional processing for good measure. lastly,departure closes the package, with haunting synth drones, bumpy rhythms and murky vocals wandering throughout the seven-minute composition

the penultimate release on optimo trax (at least for now) comes from tel aviv’s mighty kalbata. i was already a big fan and was so delighted when he got in touch to see if i would be interested in releasing something by him. unusually for optimo trax this is one track in 3 versions but each version is so different that often i play them all in one dj set. originally there were two versions but as kalbata is a renowned master of dub (check out the documentary online about him recording in jamaica), i gently persuaded him to do a no-holds-barred dub mix too which appears here as enkuan pt 3. a few words about the record from kalbata – i went to ethiopia in the beginning of 2017 to record musicians. the most memorable one was mulugeta teshome who plays the washint flute on this record. it’s a traditional ethiopian flute made out of wood, and mulugeta came to the studio carrying a whole bag of them, each one in a different key. we chose the scale and started the recording session. i ended up taking the tracks a lot further with the three cuts on the record but really it all started that day, in a small studio shack in addis ababa.

revolt! returns with a fine selection of tracks delivered by greek producer duo kreon and lemos. a side opens with -ikosiefta- a fine mixture between house and techno full of melodies and fat basslines straight for the dance floor, followed by -0.3-, a deep dub techno track with a modern twist. b side -intropar- is a 13 minute deep trip for the late hours. vinyl only, limited copies.

nice price deal !!! following our quest for inventive approaches within the sometimes tired and highly commodified house / tech house / techno / minimal or whatever you call it scene, we ve gone this time for landesvatter. regardless of having already signed a few full lenght lps on the highly esteemed normoton as well as on under_line and others, joachim landesvatter prefers to keep a low-key atittude. he offers us two great tracks, each one followed by a very special remix. the original of nome is a highly bouncy digitech house track for the dancefloor, with an infectious sinewave to keep you hooked from beggining to end. the remix of nome, in charge of arp aubert (marco niemerski aka tensnake & stephan lorenz) who run the great mirau musik, comes on the form of a hysterical dub house track that literally puts >the roof in the air<. we recommended for full effect to keep the volume on the red. as usual, the second half of the release follows at a quieter pace. hausse is a track on a out to lunch tradition, greatly influenced by detroit but at the same time distancing itself from the current plethora of nostalgics. in-house duo taron-trekka closes the package with a deep remix, rich on freaky jazz touches. we lack words to describe it.

ricardo villalobos remixes deardrum from alejandro mosso s album isolation diaries recently released on third ear. villalobos worked up a 40 minute jam from which this is a 9 minute section which moves from a gentle pattering of sounds into a full-on villalobos groove, taught and slinky at the same time, i.e. irresistibly funky. the jam then subsides into chattering noises before the groove begins again. burnt friedman s remix of isolation diaries is a slow burning super funky jam with classic burnt friedman dub elements laced through the track together with the melody twisted and phased. the closing track from the album, mounivers, completes this fine release.

nice price deal !!! the ever-prolific curtis lynch strikes again with this new reggae roots dub series, access denied. trinidad & tobago born franz job lends his vocals to the n side of this sound system killer with a tune called >i used to<. franz describes how he used to be afraid to speak his mind but now he is a rebel for the cause. the second track on this side is from curtis lynch who plays steel pans across the rip roaring dub.
the m side features another rising reggae star, massicker, originally from jamaica and currently residing in boston. massicker is a superb writer and this tune is his calling card as he explains the decline of personal interaction due to the rise of social network sites and mobile phones. the second track on this side is the customary heavy grynch dub, with plenty of echo, reverb, drum and, of course, a devastating bassline. sure to please all lovers of roots music as well as flavours to spice the jungle and dubstep crews.

shimza, real name ashley raphala, is one of south africas brightest young talents. ascendent, his 4 tracks debut e.p. on cadenza reveals solid production skills and an innate instinct for peak-time bangers. the opening track, congo congo is a dark ride over abysmal tom-tom drums, lively percussions and a gloomy bass lead, ignited dramatically by an ensemble of wide synthetic stabs and chords. in its dub- mix, the drums and the percussion become lighter without diminishing its dynamic tension. the overall weight of the leads and the stabs is reduced, leaving more space to its intense piano and string chords and swinging sub bass. shimza - secret melodies starts with an obscure bass line, but the intense twist of fractioned rolls and arpeggios bring an ascending piano progression that quickly blooms into an uplifting symphony. selector is a deeper cut that keeps the gaze on the dancefloor: the incessant hand clapping and a cloud of low frequencies bumps unexpectedly drag its hypnotic harmonies into a breath-taking drop.

lsd is an ongoing musical collaboration between longtime electronic music innovators luke slater, steve bicknell and david sumner focusing on psychedelic aspects of techno while emphasizing the cross-pollination of each members style and rhythmic sensibility. personal ties between the three can be traced back across continents and developments in dance music, with steve first inviting luke to play his legendary lost party series in london in the early 90s, resulting in mutual remixes for pioneering techno imprints cosmic records and nova mute. almost a decade later in the year 2000, dave, a native new yorker, befriended steve after inviting him to play limelight in manhattan. over the years, dave and luke would also have numerous encounters, first forming a musical bond in 2009, with dave later co-producing lukes early l.b. dub corp material (roller, 2013).

ltd 2017 repress - as well as steering stripped & chewed, garrett david has been holding down a residency at chicago s smart bar for some time. on a roll following an appearance on distant hawaii, the time finds the producer in fine fettle with a classic approach to deep house clearly born out of the city he calls home. -the time- is a shimmying jam powered by crafty dub processing and a steady hand on the arrangement, while -sea shell- is a more passionate affair that swoons through key changes. the night sea journey remix of -the time- is a more brooding affair punctuated by synth accents for a deeper end result.
